Your child might be eligible for free school transport if:

• Your home address is within the school catchment area and over the qualifying walking distance to the school
• You receive a letter from East Riding of Yorkshire Council stating your child’s entitlement
• Your child is attending their nearest catchment area school and the walking route to and from that school has been assessed as unsuitable walking route by the council OR if the measured available walking route when the child is accompanied by an adult can be walked in reasonable safety and is over the qualifying walking distance.

If your child is automatically eligible for free home to school transport when they transfer from Year 6 to Year 7, you will receive a letter from East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This letter will explain how to apply for your child’s free transport pass.

In September 2019, Hornsea School introduced a subsidised bus service to enable students living outside the Hornsea catchment area to attend our school. Since then, demand has increased significantly and the service has expanded to four routes:

• HS001A – Hedon, Preston and Sproatley
• HS001B – Hollym, Withernsea, Roos, Burton Pidsea, Wyton, Bilton, Ganstead and Coniston
• HS002 – Beverley and Tickton
• HS003 – Skirlaugh

These services are subsidised by HSLC and are available to students who purchase a bus pass through our online payment system.

The current cost is £2.00 per day, with passes purchased in advance on a termly or half-termly basis.

No payment is required until you have received confirmation of your child’s place at our school. However, we ask families to register their interest as early as possible so that we can accurately assess demand and ensure that suitable vehicles with sufficient capacity are provided.
