A-level Design & Technology equips you with design skills for the future; you will be able to recognise design needs and develop an understanding of how current global issues, including integrating technology, impacts on today’s world.

Course Content

Throughout the two year course, you will learn to identify, investigate and outline design possibilities to address needs and wants and design and make prototypes that are fit for purpose.

Maths skills are fundamental to Design and Technology and these are embedded with the course. In addition, science skills, knowledge and understand under pun the theory and practice of design and technology.

Students will also learn technical, design and making principles which they will demonstrate and apply their knowledge of through assessments.

Students are required to analyse and evaluate design decisions and outcomes, including for prototypes made by themselves and others and look at wider issues in design and technology.
